The technology

How Q-Switched 1064/532 nm Removal Works

A Q-switched laser delivers energy in nanosecond pulses. The pulse shatters pigment particles into fragments small enough for your body to carry away, without the sustained heat that damages surrounding tissue.

1064 nm

Particularly useful for black and dark pigment. This is the wavelength that does most of the work on aged brow tattooing that has settled toward gray, blue or black.

532 nm

Useful for red and selected warm-colored pigments, which appear often in cosmetic brow work that has shifted orange or pink.

Wavelength choice has to match the pigment being targeted. No single wavelength addresses every ink color, and any provider who tells you otherwise is overselling the technology.

What we treat

Cosmetic Pigment We Assess and Treat

Microblading

Hair-stroke brow pigment that has shifted in color, migrated past the original outline, or no longer suits your face.

Powder and ombre brows

Shaded or machine-packed brow pigment that has gone denser, warmer or cooler than intended over time.

Older brow tattoo pigment

Traditional cosmetic brow tattooing, including work done years ago that has faded toward gray, blue or orange.

Pigment lightening before correction

Fading existing work so a new artist has a cleaner canvas, when full clearance is not the goal.

Selected cosmetic tattoo pigment

Other cosmetic pigment, including eyeliner and lip work, assessed case by case. Some pigments are not appropriate for laser treatment.

PMU Removal Pricing

PMU / Eyebrow Tattoo Removal

$200

Per session. Includes assessment of the area and a test spot where one is indicated.

Body Tattoo Removal

From $85

Priced by size tier. See body tattoo pricing.

Cosmetic brow removal carries a higher per-session price than small body tattoos because pigment behavior is more complex and the treatment is performed in a cosmetically sensitive area. We do not sell guaranteed-clearance packages, because no one can guarantee clearance. Pigment is re-evaluated after each session.

What makes PMU different

Cosmetic Pigment Is Not a Small Body Tattoo

  • Cosmetic brow pigment is often deposited more superficially than the densely packed ink of a professional body tattoo.
  • PMU pigment composition varies widely and may include iron oxides, titanium dioxide, or mixed cosmetic pigments.
  • Some cosmetic pigments can paradoxically darken after Q-switched laser exposure.
  • A test spot may be appropriate when pigment composition or color behavior is uncertain.
  • Excellent fading can occur, but no responsible provider can guarantee complete clearance or a fixed number of sessions.

Safety first

Why We May Recommend a Test Spot

Cosmetic tattoo pigments can behave differently from traditional body tattoo inks. Some pigments may darken after laser exposure. For this reason, provider assessment and a test spot may be recommended before treating the full area.

A test spot costs you one small area and a few weeks of patience. Skipping it, on a brow, can cost you a darkened patch that is harder to treat than the original pigment. We would rather slow down than hand you a worse problem.

Step by step

What to Expect

  1. 1ConsultationWe assess pigment color, depth, technique, location, prior laser treatment, skin type, scarring history and your goals.
  2. 2Test spot when appropriateEspecially for cosmetic pigment that may contain iron oxide, titanium dioxide, white, flesh-toned, pink or mixed pigments.
  3. 3TreatmentWavelength and settings are selected according to the pigment being targeted and how your skin responds.
  4. 4Immediate endpointTransient whitening, redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding or a localized reaction may occur depending on treatment parameters.
  5. 5HealingCrusting, blistering, tenderness or temporary pigment change may occur as the area settles.
  6. 6Clearance phaseFragmented pigment is cleared gradually by your body over the following weeks.
  7. 7Repeat treatmentAdditional sessions are scheduled based on healing and residual pigment, not on a rigid calendar promise.

Realistic expectations

How Many Sessions Will It Take?

Some tattoos and cosmetic brow pigments fade substantially after a limited number of sessions, while others require a longer series or retain residual pigment. Response depends on ink composition, depth, density, color, tattoo age, location, skin type, and individual clearance.

That is the honest answer, and it is the only one we will give you before we have seen your pigment respond. We schedule the next session on how the area healed and how much pigment remains, not on a number picked at your first visit.

Straight comparison

Q-Switched Nd:YAG vs Picosecond

Q-Switched Nd:YAGPicosecond
Nanosecond pulse durationPicosecond pulse duration
Established technology for black and dark pigment, and for red pigment with the appropriate wavelengthCan improve efficiency for some difficult pigments and residual tattoo ink
Excellent option for selected PMU and body tattoo removalMay outperform Q-switch for some eyebrow tattoos and certain blue, green and yellow pigments
Complete clearance is not guaranteedComplete clearance is still not guaranteed

Revive uses an established 1064/532 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG platform. Response depends on pigment and tattoo characteristics, and picosecond technology may offer an advantage for some resistant colors or residual pigment.

RN-Led Care in a Cosmetically Sensitive Area

Treatments are performed by Angelica Alcaraz, BSN, RN. Brow pigment sits millimeters from the eye, in the most visible part of the face, and it is not the place for aggressive settings or a rushed schedule.

Every consultation covers pigment history, prior laser treatment, skin type and scarring history before any energy is delivered. If your pigment is not a good candidate for laser treatment, we will say so.

Common questions

PMU Removal FAQ

How many sessions will eyebrow tattoo removal take?
There is no honest fixed answer, and we will not quote you one. Some cosmetic brow pigment fades substantially after a limited number of sessions, while other work needs a longer series or keeps residual pigment. Response depends on pigment composition, depth, density, color, how old the work is, its location, your skin type and how quickly your body clears fragmented pigment. We reassess after each session and tell you what we are actually seeing.
Neither is universally better. Revive uses an established 1064/532 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG platform. Response depends on pigment and tattoo characteristics, and picosecond technology may offer an advantage for some resistant colors or residual pigment. If your pigment stops responding, we will tell you that rather than sell you more sessions.
Yes, and this is the single most important thing to understand about cosmetic pigment. Some cosmetic tattoo pigments can paradoxically darken after laser exposure, particularly pigments containing iron oxide or titanium dioxide, and white, flesh-toned or pink shades. This is why provider assessment and a test spot may be recommended before treating the full brow.
Immediately after treatment you may see transient whitening, redness and swelling, and sometimes pinpoint bleeding, depending on the settings used. Over the following days crusting, blistering, tenderness or temporary pigment change may occur. The area should be kept clean and protected, and you should not pick at crusting. Fragmented pigment continues to clear gradually over the weeks that follow.
No. Saline removal is a tattooing procedure that reopens the skin and draws pigment out with a saline solution. Laser removal fragments pigment beneath intact skin so your body can clear it. Revive performs Q-switched laser removal and does not offer saline removal. Both have a place, and neither guarantees complete clearance.
Most people describe the sensation as a fast, hot snapping against the skin. The brow area is small, so sessions are short. Scarring, textural change and pigment change are possible risks of any laser tattoo removal, and risk goes up with aggressive settings, treating too frequently or picking at healing skin. We use conservative settings in a cosmetically sensitive area and space sessions on healing, not on a calendar.
Eyebrow and permanent makeup removal is $200 per session. PMU pricing is deliberately separate from body tattoo pricing because cosmetic pigment behavior is more complex and the treatment sits in a cosmetically sensitive area. Body tattoo removal starts at $85 per session.
