Straight answer first

Scars Are Improved, Not Erased

You spent real money on a procedure and you are considering spending again on the scar it left. You are owed an honest answer before you book: laser treatment does not make a surgical scar disappear, and nobody's laser does.

What a scar-revision plan is directed at is appearance — the redness, the pigmentation and how much the scar stands out against the skin around it. For a lot of people that is exactly the complaint: not that the scar exists, but that it is still visibly a different colour from the rest of them.

If we look at your scar and think a series is unlikely to change much, we will say that at consultation rather than sell you one.

Scars we assess

Post-Surgical Scars, by Procedure

Every one of these must be fully healed and medically appropriate for laser treatment before a plan starts.

  1. 01

    Abdominoplasty / tummy tuck scars

A long horizontal scar that is often still pink or dark months after surgery. Usually well healed by the time patients start thinking about appearance, which makes it a common starting point for a scar plan.

  2. 02

    Breast augmentation scars

Inframammary, periareolar or transaxillary incisions, depending on approach. Location affects both how visible the scar is day to day and how it has healed.

  3. 03

    Breast lift / mastopexy scars

More extensive scar patterns than augmentation alone, often anchor or lollipop shaped. Different segments of the same scar can be at different stages, and a plan accounts for that.

  4. 04

    Breast reduction scars

Similar patterns to a lift, sometimes with more tension across parts of the closure. Tension is one of the factors that affects how a scar matures.

  5. 05

    Liposuction access points

Small, scattered incision points rather than one long scar. Often overlooked at the time and then noticed later, particularly where they sit darker than surrounding skin.

  6. 06

    C-section scars

Frequently the scar patients live with longest before addressing it. Colour, pigmentation and how the scar sits relative to surrounding skin are the components a laser plan is directed at.

  7. 07

Selected other surgical or traumatic scars

Other healed surgical scars and selected traumatic scars may be appropriate. Assessment is individual, and some scars are better served by other approaches or by no treatment at all.

What actually drives results

Seven Things That Determine How a Scar Responds

This is why nobody can quote you a result, or a session count, from a description over the phone.

  1. 01How old the scar is and what stage of maturation it is in
  2. 02Its colour — red and vascular, dark and pigmented, or pale
  3. 03Thickness, and whether it is raised, flat or indented
  4. 04Location on the body, and the tension across it
  5. 05The surgical technique and how the closure healed
  6. 06Your skin type and pigment risk
  7. 07Your individual healing response, including any history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring

Scar pricing

Facial Scars and Body Scars Are Priced Differently

A small facial scar and a full mastopexy scar pattern are not the same job, so we do not force them into the same package price.

Selected facial scars

Uses the standard Aerolase ladder, the same as every other concern on this platform.

  • Single full-face session$500
  • Signature Series of 3$1,350
  • Signature Series of 5$1,800

Body & extensive post-surgical scars

Quoted as a custom scar plan from your consultation, based on the area being treated and what the scar is likely to need. Tummy tuck, breast surgery, liposuction and C-section scars usually fall here.

Maintenance after a completed series is $400–$450 at the established-patient rate. Facial scar plans follow the same $500 / $1,800 structure used across every Aerolase concern.

Fitzpatrick I–VI

Designed for Every Skin Type

Aerolase Neo Elite uses a 1064 nm wavelength and 650-microsecond pulse technology designed for treatment across Fitzpatrick I–VI. Treatment settings and candidacy remain individualized according to your concern, skin response, medical history and pigment risk.

Scar work in deeper skin tones carries a specific tension: post-inflammatory pigment change is both a frequent scar complaint and a possible consequence of over-aggressive treatment. Neo Elite is designed across Fitzpatrick I–VI, and pigment risk is assessed before the first session rather than discovered after it.

What to expect

How a Scar Plan Runs

  1. 01

    Confirm the scar is ready

The incision must be fully healed and medically appropriate for laser treatment. If you are still early in healing, the answer is to wait — and we would rather tell you that than start a series on a scar that is still maturing.

  2. 02

Assess what kind of scar this is

Red and vascular, dark and pigmented, raised, or indented — these respond differently and some of them respond to a different modality entirely. A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring changes the conversation and needs raising up front.

  3. 03

    Quote the plan

Selected facial scars use the standard ladder. Larger body scars and extensive post-surgical scars are quoted as a custom scar plan from the consultation, based on the area being treated and the number of sessions the scar is likely to need.

  4. 04

    Your sessions

Aerolase is generally positioned as low social downtime rather than no downtime. Temporary redness, warmth or other treatment-specific reactions can occur, and what you experience is individual.

  5. 05

    Reassess as it goes

Scar response is gradual and is reviewed between sessions rather than sold as a fixed course. Colour generally moves before anything else does.

Is your scar indented rather than discoloured?

Aerolase works on colour. Textural and indented scarring responds to a different mechanism — SkinPen microneedling drives a remodeling response, and many scar plans use both in sequence. Where they do, we will not credit the combined result to the laser alone.

Common questions

Scar Treatment FAQ

Not sure whether your scar is ready? Call (831) 272-2506 or read about what treatment feels like.
Will my scar disappear?
No. We will not promise that a scar disappears, and it is worth being wary of anyone who does. What a scar-revision plan is directed at is the appearance of the scar — its redness, its pigmentation and how much it stands out against surrounding skin. Results depend on scar age, colour, thickness, location, surgical technique, skin type and individual healing response.
The incision needs to be fully healed and medically appropriate for laser treatment. There is no single number that applies to every procedure and every patient — it depends on the surgery, the closure and how you healed. Bring your surgical details to the consultation and, if it is too early, we will tell you to come back rather than start.
Selected facial scars use the standard Aerolase ladder: $500 for a single session, $1,350 for a series of three and $1,800 for a series of five. Larger body scars and extensive post-surgical scars are quoted as a custom scar plan from your consultation, because a C-section scar and a full mastopexy pattern are not the same job and it would be misleading to price them as if they were.
We will not quote a fixed number before seeing the scar. Session count depends on its age, colour, thickness, location and how it responds as treatment progresses. The plan is reassessed between sessions rather than sold as a set course up front.
Raised hypertrophic and keloid scarring is a different problem from colour, and it often needs approaches beyond laser — including treatments Revive does not offer. If you have a history of keloid scarring, raise it at consultation. It changes both candidacy and the realistic goal, and in some cases the right advice is a referral rather than a series.
Aerolase works on colour — the redness and pigment within a scar. Indented, textural scarring responds to a different mechanism, which is where microneedling comes in. Plans frequently use both in sequence, and when they do, we will not attribute the combined result to the laser alone.
The Neo platform is designed for Fitzpatrick I–VI. This matters in scar work because post-inflammatory pigment change is both a common scar complaint and a possible risk of over-aggressive treatment. Settings are individualized and pigment risk is assessed before treatment.
Aerolase is generally positioned as low social downtime, not zero downtime. Temporary redness or warmth over the treated area can occur. What you experience is individual, and we will set expectations for your specific plan.
